EDF protest in Bridgwater

12 April 2011 - Campaigners from South West Against Nuclear were in Bridgwater town centre this lunchtime as part of a series of national events called for by the Stop Nuclear Power Network in response to the events unfolding in Japan. Sir Vile & his Personal Assistant Miss Information were recruiting unwitting victims on behalf of EDF for their great green rip off – new nuclear build. (1)

More than 250,000 people protest against nuclear power in Germany

More than 200,000 people took to the streets around Germany on Saturday, 26 March, to protest against nuclear power, upping the pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel on the eve of a critical state election.

One of the organisers Ausgestrahlt said 250,000 people took part in demonstrations in four major cities marching under the banner "Fukushima Means: No More Nuclear Power Stations."

Marches took place in Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and the capital Berlin ahead of the vote in wealthy Baden-Württemberg state on Sunday at which nuclear energy is set to be a key issue.

Radioactive Man visits Business Department

Radioactive Man and his sidekick Fallout Boy were spotted outside the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in central London on Monday, 21st February. The venue was hosting consultation events relating to new nuclear build (nuclear waste pricing and funded decommissioning). Members of the Stop Nuclear Power Network attended the meetings to make sure the difficult questions were being asked.

Anti-nuclear campaigners brand Government energy view a 'fantasy'

West country members ofthe Stop Nuclear Power Network, have slammed a government consultation on the future of the UK’s energy supply - held today (Monday) in Bristol- as ‘trying to sell a fantasy’. And activists attending the public meeting, held by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), interrupted this afternoon’s event to read out their own ‘cautionary tale’  - which outlines the nightmare future that could be created if a new generation of nuclear power stations is given the go-ahead.
